Effingen station

The Effingen train station was built at 461  m above sea level. M. as part of the Bözbergbahn, opened in 1875, at the west portal of the Bözberg tunnel. As a result of the new railway area, the Sissle had to be canalized.

A post bus line previously connected the train station with the village center of Effingen and Elfingen . The station has a goods shed, a station office that is no longer in operation today, and a former official residence for the station's management . It was served by the regional trains that ran between Brugg and Basel .

On July 30, 1988 in Effingen which met Ae 6/6 - locomotive . No. 11413, which the freight train led No. 53048, with a construction machine together.. The locomotive was overhauled in Bellinzona .

The train station today

As a saving measure by the Swiss Federal Railways , regional traffic between Frick and Brugg was discontinued in 1993 . The railway underpass is still part of a hiking trail. The passage to the platform, which "only" served travelers in the direction of Brugg, was bricked up. Thus the Effingen station became a ghost station .

The train station is far away from the center of the village of Effingen , at the municipal boundary of Zeihen . For a number of years, the Postbus on the Effingen-Zeihen- Herznach line only drove during off -peak times and on Sundays on request (so-called on- call bus ). With the timetable change in December 2011, the on-call bus system was discontinued, which means that prior (telephone) reservations are no longer necessary. At the tunnel entrance there is now a military installation. There the sappers work on the track construction and try out the emergency.
