The Forchheim (b Karlsruhe) station is a station of DB Netz and a transport station of DB Station & Service in the city of Rheinstetten in Baden-Wuerttemberg . The station is located on route km 67.8 of the Baden Rheinbahn and is served by two lines of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn .
history
The station was built in 1903 under the name “Staats” station . The reason for the construction was the nearby parade ground of the Karlsruhe garrison, which was regularly visited by Kaiser Wilhelm II after maneuvers .
In 1994 Forchheim was officially integrated into the Karlsruhe light rail network. For this purpose, the former S7 tram line, which initially only ran between Karlsruhe main station and Baden-Baden, was introduced. After the ramp at Albtalbahnhof was completed in 1996, the S7 light rail line was merged with the S4 light rail line and has since operated as the S4 line.
Since 2002, the S41 light rail line has also been running from downtown Karlsruhe to Herrenberg . With the timetable change in December 2016, line S4 was renumbered to S7 and line S41 to S8.
Investments
The two outer platforms are 38 centimeters high, platform 1 is 155 meters long, platform 2 is 250 meters long. At the southern head of the station there is a siding that leads to the Epple gravel works , but this is currently not in use.
The points and signals were controlled by a mechanical interlocking of the Bruchsal I type from 1905 until September 29, 2018 . Since then, ESTW-A has been serving Bashaide .
traffic
Forchheim train station is a station on the S7 ( Achern - Rastatt - Karlsruhe Hbf) and S8 ( Herrenberg - Freudenstadt - Forbach - Rastatt - Karlsruhe) tram lines , each of which runs a maximum of twice an hour. The journey time from Karlsruhe main station to Forchheim is 9 minutes.
Bus line 106, whose Akazienweg stop is around 300 m from Forchheim train station, opens up the entire urban area of Rheinstetten.
