The Freyburg (Unstrut) Station is the railway station of the town Freyburg (Unstrut) in the castle district . It went into operation in 1889. In freight transport, he played an important role for local companies. The tourist facilities were moved in 2012 by 300 meters to route kilometer 6.5, where an interface to regional bus traffic was created. The station building is a listed building.

history

On October 1st, 1889, the line from Naumburg (Saale) to Reinsdorf went into operation. Due to the heavy traffic, more and more additional points and tracks were added. More railway personnel was also necessary. In 1909 the signal box was added. Local entrepreneurs mainly use the railroad as a means of transport. Important goods customers were the Rotkäppchen Sektkellerei , the Flemmig lime works and the agricultural trading cooperative during the GDR .

After the dismantling of the systems, only the two crossing tracks are left in the station (2012)

In the last peace timetable from 1914, eleven pairs of trains ran between Naumburg (Saale) and Lauche, one of which went through to Rossleben and five to Artern. In 1926, six to seven pairs of trains ran between Naumburg and Artern every day, running between about 5 a.m. and midnight. At that time the station was still called “Freyburg a. U. “In 1934 a small locomotive was used for the first time for shunting there.

Since 1946, large quantities of gravel have been handled in the Freyburg station. In 1957 there were more than 50 cars a day. Every autumn, 25-30 wagons of sugar beet were loaded every day. The transport of livestock also played a major role. In 1956, 266 wagons were brought to the slaughterhouses. In 1964 about 100 tank wagons with imported wines were unloaded. Until 1990, around 60 trains passed the station a day.

Construction of the new bus stop (2012)

In the course of the extensive modernization of the Unstrutbahn in 2011/12, a new platform was built for passenger traffic in a different location, whereby 490,000 euros were invested. After a lengthy shutdown, operations were resumed on February 1, 2012. The trains stopped at the old station in Freyburg up to and including February 29th. On March 1, the new breakpoint finally went into operation. The old station has not been used for tourist traffic since then, and the platforms have been demolished. The city of Freyburg built a new public transport interface so that there is a bus stop right next to the stop.

The regional train line RB 77, which runs between Naumburg (Saale) Ost and Wangen, serves the stop every hour. Freyburg is regularly the destination of steam or diesel-driven special trains, for example the Rotkäppchen Express or the special trips to the wine festival.

Plant description

Reception building

In 1909 the reception building was given a new floor for living spaces in the attic. There was a train station restaurant in the reception building . Today the vacant building is a listed building .

Security technology

The dispatcher interlocking is located at the southern head of the station. Until the signal box was converted to light signaling technology in 1980, there was a guard signal box at the northern head of the station, which was housed in a porch of the reception building. There were caretakers' booths at the northern and southern head of the station. There was a gatekeeper at the barrier-free level crossing at the lock near today's stop. The dispatcher interlocking is still in operation, the posts have been abandoned.

Tourist traffic

The station's passenger traffic systems consisted of two platforms. A side platform was on the continuous main track (track 2) at the level of the reception building, while a slightly offset intermediate platform was located between the main and crossing tracks (track 3). The platforms are dismantled today.

Freight transport

Track 4, the westernmost main track, was used for freight traffic. The local freight facility was on the east side of the station. parallel to the main track. To the south of the reception building were the goods shed attached to the reception building, the head and side ramp and the loading street. In addition, a weighbridge, a loading gauge and a loading crane were available. After the Second World War, two long loading tracks were built parallel to the loading road for gravel traffic.

In 1913, the Otto Flemmig lime works received a siding, which was served from Freyburg until 1978 and was located opposite the platform of the new stop. There was also a siding to the BHV warehouse in the station area. The goods shed still exists, all other facilities have been dismantled.
