Reinsdorf is a municipality in the Thuringian Kyffhäuserkreis on the B 86 between Heldrungen and Artern .

geography

The community is located on the southern edge of the Golden Aue and on the northern edge of the Hohe Schrecke. The Unstrut flows about a kilometer from the village . Next to the Unstrut runs the Unstrut cycle path of the same name , which has gained interest.

history

At the beginning of the 9th century, Reinsdorf was mentioned in a document as Reginhardesdorf in a list of the goods of the Hersfeld Monastery, built by Archbishop Lullus († 786) of Mainz . Later the place belonged to the office of Heldrungen .

In 1824 a church was added to a medieval choir tower.

During the Second World War , prisoners of war from France as well as women and men from Poland and Ukraine had to do forced labor for farmers . The place took on numerous evacuees from the air war zones and from 1945 refugees from the eastern regions.

On February 9, 1945, US low- flying aircraft attacked a freight train carrying concentration camp inmates near Reinsdorf with on-board weapons. 105 people were killed on the train or on the run and 150 seriously injured. Of these, 23 died in Artern Hospital . 26 victims were buried in the Artern cemetery, where a plaque stands above their mass grave.

Reinsdorf was occupied by US troops in April 1945 and by the Red Army in early July . It was part of the Soviet occupation zone and, from 1949 to 1990, of the GDR . It was affected by the forced collectivization of farms in the 1950s .

Until it was dissolved on January 1, 2019, the community belonged to the Mittelzentrum Artern administrative community , since then the city of Artern has been a fulfilling community for Reinsdorf.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on September 6, 1994 by the Thuringian State Administration Office.

Blazon : “Split and divided in front; above in gold a three-leaf clover leaf, below in green a golden key and a golden sword crossed diagonally; at the back two diagonal bars in black. "

The three-leaf clover comes from the church seal and has been known as a symbol in the community for many years; The key and sword represent the attributes of the apostles Peter and Paul, as the local church is dedicated to these saints. The golden slanting bars in black are borrowed from the arms of the Trebra family ; this respected old Thuringian family owned properties in the community for a long time. The great importance of this sex for the formation and development of the community is often mentioned in chronicles.

The coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Michael Zapfe .

traffic

The Reinsdorf (b Artern) stop on the Sangerhausen – Erfurt railway line is served mornings and evenings on weekdays and all day on weekends. There is no longer any regular passenger traffic on the Unstrutbahn to Naumburg (Saale).

In addition, the L 3086 runs on the outskirts, which emerged in 2015 from the stepped federal highway 86 from Erfurt to Sangerhausen. Via the Artern junction 6 kilometers away and the Heldrungen junction 5 kilometers away, you can get to the federal highway 71 . The federal motorway 38 can be reached in 15 kilometers .
