geography

The place is located in the north of the state of Thuringia in the southern tip of the Golden Aue not far from the Unstrut at the foot of the Schrecke. The basin of the Unstrut and Helmen lowlands is surrounded by the Harz Mountains , the Kyffhäuser and the Hohe Schrecke and another mountain range in the east.

history

Nausitz was first mentioned under the name Nuseze in 1157 , when the Pforta monastery near Naumburg (Saale) received two Hufen land here .

In 1705 the so-called Nausitz sheep war broke out . It was triggered when 150 Donndorf and Kleinroda farmers stole 131 sheep from the Nausitz manor. After seven years of dispute, they had to return 127 sheep and 224 thalers in damages.

The manor originally belonged to the von Werthern family . A Herr von Creutz built a mansion in 1696. In 1796 the indebted property of the Rosenkranz family was acquired by Lieutenant Colonel Ernst August von Römer , who owned the property until 1920. Then Leopold von Münchhausen took it over by marrying in .

From 1816 Nausitz belonged to the district Eckartsberga with the district seat Kölleda . In 1952 the district of Artern took over the office.

In April 1945 US troops occupied the place, replaced by the Red Army in early July . Nausitz became part of the SBZ and, from 1949, the GDR . Georg Heino von Münchhausen was expropriated without compensation in 1945 (manor and castle). In the 1950s, the forced collectivization of the farms took place.

On January 1, 2019, the municipalities of Nausitz and Donndorf and the cities of Roßleben and Wiehe merged to form the new city and rural community of Roßleben-Wiehe . The community of Nausitz belonged to the administrative community Mittelzentrum Artern .
