Langenroda is a district of the rural community of Roßleben-Wiehe in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia .

location

The elongated street village lies in a deeply cut valley that extends into the Hohe Schrecke and the Finn . To the east of the district lies the Unstrut lowland .

history

On October 1st, 1312 the place was first mentioned as Langinrode in the document book I 445 of the Pforta monastery .

Langenroda was part of Wiehe since March 25, 1994. The district has 250 inhabitants. On January 1, 2019 Wiehe merged with the city of Roßleben and the communities of Donndorf and Nausitz to form the city of Roßleben-Wiehe.

Attractions

  • The community brewery is a special feature in the village.
  • St. George's Church stands in the middle of the village and was built in 1894 in the neo-Romanesque style on the site of its predecessor, because its tower was threatened with tilt. The new building only took a little over six months.
Next to the staircase to the church, an old door from 1792 is presented, which, as an information board reveals, has come a long way: Pastor Christoph Heinrich Spieler had the door installed in the previous church in 1792. When the church was rebuilt in 1894, the still usable door was sold and moved to the village forge, where it stayed until 1992 when the village forge was converted into a garage. The door was removed and stored in the municipal administration. In 1999 the door was stored in the Wiehe town hall and was to come to the new local history museum. This did not happen in 2000 when the Heimatmuseum was opened; the door was moved to the "Am Spannhügel" rifle house that was being built and installed in the shooting box in 2005. In 2012, the door was moved to its current location as part of the site's 700th anniversary and is now open to the public.
  • The brick bakery houses are a rarity.
  • Northeast of the local situation is a built in 1732 and extensively in 1999 and 2000 restored windmill . It is fully functional today. Visitors can stop off in the adjacent mill café.
