The Heilbronn-Böckingen train station was opened on October 19, 1901 as the Böckingen stop , was built in the classical style and complemented the Heilbronn freight station, which was built in 1894 .

history

Plan of the service building from 1901

Although the tracks of the northern railway went over the Böckingen area, Böckingen initially did not have its own station. The reason for this was that the place could not make the financial contribution, which the client was now demanding. The citizens of Böckingen had to use the Heilbronn main station for the time being .

Since 1895, the Böckinger citizenship and the Böckinger municipal council have submitted petitions to Stuttgart in which the need for a separate Böckinger station was formulated. In a report from the Württemberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1899 it can be read that the Heilbronn Chamber recommends the construction of a passenger stop in Böckingen in the interests of workers and to increase local traffic.

Finally an access point was set up in Böckingen , and the community made a financial contribution of 13,000 marks . The breakpoint was built east of the main route on the widened dam of the Upper Böckinger See and was inaugurated on October 19, 1901. The station had no operational tasks such as setting switches and signaling. Ticket sales, baggage acceptance and delivery, and later also post and telegraph offices were offered as a service.

During several air raids on Heilbronn , the Böckingen facilities were a frequent target.

On September 25, 1971, passenger traffic at the Böckingen stop was discontinued due to a lack of profitability .
