The Kassel-Niederzwehren station is a station in the Niederzwehren district of the north Hessian city of Kassel , which has only served as a freight station ( connecting station ) and as a stop for line 5 of the Kassel tram since 1985 . The station has three continuous and electrified tracks that are remotely controlled from the relay interlocking in Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe .
history
The station Niederzwehren was in the course of took place on 15 March 1880 port of Losse Valley Railway to the main station Kassel as a breakpoint in the passenger opened. The station was minimally equipped with a station name plate and timetable notice , there was never a reception building or weather shelter there. Passenger traffic on this route ceased on May 31, 1985, and access to the island platform was bricked up.
In addition to its function as a passenger traffic stop on the Lossetalbahn, Niederzwehren station had some significance as a connecting station for goods traffic and is used for this purpose to the present day. The wagon factory Gebrüder Credé , which existed from 1897 to 1967 , the timber trading company W. & L. Jordan GmbH as well as two scrap dealers and the Kassel power station, which operated from 1955 to 1988, were connected via sidings. In addition, the fuel deliveries for the Bundeswehr units stationed in the Graf-Haeseler barracks in Kassel-Niederzwehren until 1994 were made via the Niederzwehren train station .
Today's operation
The connection to the current Kassel thermal power station has been preserved to this day and is connected via a connecting railway that branches off at the eastern end of the station in a southerly direction. For the cogeneration plant is lignite in Selbstentladewagen delivered, currently as trains of DB Schenker will be delivered to the power plant site. Previously, the cars were in Niederzwehren of Werkloks taken over the power plant.
The Kassel-Niederzwehren train station is now part of the headquarters of the traditional Kassel company W. & L. Jordan GmbH , which is a leading nationwide flooring wholesaler.
