The Košice Station ( Železničná stanica Kosice ) is the main station of the eastern Slovak city of Kosice .
location
The train station is located east of the city center in the Staré Mesto district , 1 km east of St. Elisabeth Cathedral (about 12 minutes on foot). There are transfer options to local public transport operated by the Košice transport company and the bus station is right next door.
meaning
As the central point of the Košice junction, several routes of international and national importance meet here. The European mainline Bratislava - Žilina - Košice - Uzhhorod - ( Kiev ) ( Pan-European Transport Corridor No. Va ) runs through the station . The railway infrastructure of the station belongs to the ŽSR ; the connections are operated by the ZSSK .

history
The station was opened on August 14, 1860 with the commissioning of the Miskolc – Kosice line. The current building has existed since 1973, following the renovation of a previous building from 1871.
