The Komagane Station ( Jap. 駒ケ根駅 , Komagane-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Honshu , operated by the railway company JR Central . It is located in Nagano Prefecture , in the Komagane City area of the Ina Basin .

description

Komagane is a through station on the JR Central- operated Iida Line , which connects Toyohashi with Tatsuno . The Misuzu express train ( み す ず ) runs once a day to Tatsuno, Matsumoto , Nagano and back, and there is another express train to Okaya every day . In regional traffic there is an approximate hourly service both northwards in the direction of Tatsuno (most of the trains are connected to Okaya on the Chūō main line ) and south to Tenryūkyō . In the 1960s to 1980s, the Japanese State Railways offered express trains to Tokyo-Shinjuku without changing trains , but these were replaced by long-distance buses.

The station is on the eastern edge of the city center, more precisely in the Higashi-machi district. The facility is oriented from south to north and has three tracks, all of which are used for passenger traffic. They are located on the main platform and on a partially covered central platform , which is connected to the reception building on the west side by a level crossing . A three-track parking facility extends directly to the north of the station. The station forecourt is served by several Ina Bus bus routes. One of them goes to the valley station of the Komagatake cable car , Japan's highest cable car.

In 2016, the station had an average of 526 passengers a day.

history

The railway company Ina Denki Tetsudō opened the station on October 31, 1914, together with the section leading from Miyada to this point. The station was initially called Akaho ( 赤 穂 ) and was the terminus for almost two months until the opening of the subsequent section to Ina-Fukuoka on December 26, 1914. The Ina Denki Tetsudō was nationalized on August 1, 1943. The Ministry of Railways was responsible for the operation , from 1949 the Japanese State Railways .

In October 1959 the station was given its current name. In 1980 the state railway replaced the station building with a new building. For cost reasons, it stopped handling goods on November 1, 1982, and checked baggage on March 14, 1985. As part of the privatization of the state railway, the station passed into the ownership of the new company JR Central on April 1, 1987 .
