Railway stations in Thuringia |
The neudietendorf station is the station of the Thuringian town of Neudietendorf (municipality Nesse-Apfelstädt ), located 13 kilometers south-west of Erfurt's main train station . The station is located at the fork in the railway lines from Erfurt to Eisenach on the one hand and across the Thuringian Forest on the other. As such, it has an important transfer function and is therefore classified by Deutsche Bahn in station category 4. This makes it the most important train station in Thuringia that is not on the territory of a city. Extensive construction work has been underway on the area around the railway junction since October 2012.
history
The station was built in connection with the construction of the Thuringian Railway in 1847, initially under the name Dietendorf . With the construction of the Erfurt – Ilmenau railway line , it was given its function as a transfer station. In the spacious station building that was now being built, there were even specially furnished princely rooms in which nobles could bridge the transfer time. At this time, an extensive freight yard was also built southwest of the passenger station, which contributed significantly to the development of Neudietendorf into an industrial community. With the merger of Dietendorf and Neudietendorf in 1933, the train station also got its current name. The original station building was badly damaged in the Second World War and then rebuilt as a simple functional building with ticket issuance, luggage storage and a station restaurant. During the division of Germany , there was an operating stop here to change locomotives for every transit train ; the connection, which was used without further intermediate stops, was the southern end of the section of the line from Dessau with contact wire: from 1967 to 1984 the station was the end point of the line electrification before it was extended to Arnstadt (it was dismantled again when long-distance traffic was discontinued). In the 1990s, the platforms and other railway systems were redesigned, and in late summer 2015 both platforms were equipped with elevators.
On 29 October 1919 came around 08:30 pm in Neudietendorf to edge ride a freight train on the passenger P 810 Erfurt-Bebra. 3 people died and 80 were injured.
There have been around 90 new, modern parking spaces since 2014.
In 2015 the station building was sold to the community and renovated. There is now a bakery, a butcher shop and toilets, a lockable bicycle storage room and a waiting area.
