history

Platform facing east

The Dukenburg district came into being in the 1960s due to the severe housing shortage that prevailed in Nijmegen at the time. From 1966, the first apartments were built in the Aldenhof district, which could be moved into a year later. Due to the increasing number of residential buildings and the increasing number of inhabitants, the realization grew that a train station had to be built for the new districts of Dukenburg and Lindenholt west of the Maas-Waal Canal . A provisional stop was opened on June 3, 1973. Thirteen years later, a station building was built based on a design by the architect Paul Corbey. The current successor building dates back to 1996 and was designed by Theo Fikkers.
