Oberursel-Stierstadt stop

Stierstadt has only been connected to rail traffic for a few years. In 1998 , a stop called Oberursel-Stierstadt (abbreviation: FOUS) was built on the embankment of the Homburg Railway , which cuts through the district in the eastern part . The 210 meter long and 96 centimeter high side platforms enable barrier-free entry to the S-Bahn railcars . They can be reached by stairs and one ramp each. In addition to the existing bridge at the north end, a stream passage was prepared as a pedestrian underpass at the south end and artistically designed in autumn 2007. Since the stop is just before the entry signals from Oberursel and Weißkirchen / Steinbach, a distant signal repeater was set up at each end of the platform .

The S-Bahn line S5 stops here every quarter of an hour during rush hour; This makes Stierstadt a category  5 station . The Taunusbahn trains do not stop.

The Oberursel-Weißkirchen / Steinbach train station (abbreviation: FWN), formerly Weißkirchen (Taunus), is located directly on the border between the cities of Steinbach and Oberursel . It is a simple train station with only one track change, which is at a distance of 12.3 km at 167.1  m above sea level. NN lies. Kurmainzer Straße (L 3006), which used to cross the railway line at barrier post 9, runs across the station. An underpass was built for pedestrians; the stairways to the overpass are closed due to disrepair and have been renovated since the beginning of 2010. The station building was also demolished when the bridge was built in the 1970s. The two platforms, which are 76 centimeters high and 210 meters long, are designed as exterior platforms; Before the S-Bahn started operating, there was an island platform between the tracks, which can still be seen today from the greater distance between the tracks in the station area.

Furthermore, the station was equipped with form signals and was connected to the Bad Homburg central signal box in 1977 , which brought about the installation of today's H / V light signals . There is a small relay interlocking in the station building , which is mostly remote controlled from Bad Homburg. A special signaling feature is the seldom installed replacement signals on the opposite track .

The category 5 station is served by the S5 every quarter of an hour during rush hour. The trains of the Taunusbahn run through as in Stierstadt - but here at a line speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

The location was the doom of the station several times, because it was built at the time of construction on the border between the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Duchy of Nassau , today the border between Oberursel and Steinbach, and is roughly the same distance from the town centers of Stierstadt, Weißkirchen and Steinbach . The station building stood exactly on the border between Stierstadt, Weißkirchen (both today districts of Oberursel) and Steinbach. Why the station was named Weißkirchen (Taunus) is not known; the village of Steinbach was Hessian at that time, while Stierstadt and Weißkirchen belonged to Nassau, which apparently prevailed in the naming. This little curiosity found its way into Hessian literature with the poem "Solomonisches Judgment" by Friedrich Stoltze , where it is suggested how and by whom the thief caught after reaching into the station cash register should be punished. However, the curiosity continued into the late 20th century . Most of them are citizens of Steinbach who use the train station, which is mostly located in the Steinbach district - the rest of the (northern) part is in the Stierstadt district, the Weißkirchen district ends in the southern part immediately to the east of the train station. At the beginning of the 1980s, the railway wanted to take this into account and rename the station to Steinbach (Taunus) . This seemed only logical to the Steinbachers, but in Weißkirchen - long since incorporated into Oberursel - a storm of indignation broke out. There were even threats with the administrative court. Solomonic end of the story: The S-Bahn stop is now called Oberursel-Weißkirchen / Steinbach .

Weißkirchen Ost underground station
U-Bahn terminus Hohemark

The former mountain railway , later Kleinbahn Heddernheim – Hohemark and today's underground line U3 , runs from the south-east to the north-west across the Oberursel city area. The settlement extends mainly in the valley of the Urselbach , through which the underground also runs from the train station to Hohemark. This results in a total of eleven stations in the city area.

The stations Weißkirchen Ost and Bommersheim are in the respective districts. After the Oberursel Bahnhof station , all stations are in the city center. Oberursel Stadtmitte , formerly Liebfrauenstrasse , is the first stop after the train station. After Oberursel Altstadt (before the renovation of Portstrasse , before that of Chaussee ) and Lahnstrasse , the Motorenfabrik station used to follow and was closed. The Kupferhammer station following Glöcknerwiese , at which the underground line becomes single-track and crosses Hohemarkstrasse, has also been made barrier-free , like the Rosengärtchen , Waldlust and Hohemark stations. All other stations were made accessible by the Hessentag 2011 .
