Bommersheim is a district of the city of Oberursel (Taunus) in the Hochtaunuskreis in Hesse . Bommersheim can be called the largest horse village in Hesse .

Geographical location

Bommersheim occupies the east of the urban area of Oberursel. The district extends to the federal autobahn 5 , where it borders on the city of Frankfurt am Main , district Frankfurt-Kalbach-Riedberg . Outside of the locality, the district is used exclusively for agriculture. There are no forest areas. In terms of urban planning, Bommersheim and Oberursel-Mitte have long grown together. Bommersheim is primarily a residential suburb that is still dominated by agriculture. Especially the old town center in the east has a high density of farmers who make their stables and areas available for private owners to keep horses (horse boarding).

The Kalbach , which flows into the Nidda in Frankfurt , rises in the Niederwiese on the eastern edge of the village, a wetland that is criss-crossed with a network of receiving waters .

history

The oldest known documentary mention of Bommersheim can be found in the Codex Laureshamensis , the so-called Lorsch Codex. For October 28, 792 it is noted that a Folcbertus with his wife Gundrath donated two Hufen land and 10 serfs in Botmarsheim (Bommersheim) to the Lorsch Monastery on Bergstrasse .

  • October 28, 792: First mentioned under the name Botmarsheim .
  • Spring 1382: Bommersheim Castle is destroyed.

Because of the inadequate supply of drinking water from its own wells, there had been a water supply contract with the city of Oberursel since 1901 and the municipality of Bommersheim conducted negotiations with the neighboring city for years about integration. This finally led to success on October 1, 1929. This made Bommersheim the first district to be incorporated into Oberursel. In contrast to the municipalities that were later incorporated into Oberursel at the time of the regional reform in Hesse in 1972, no local district was formed for Bommersheim . Instead, Oberursel has created an advisory board for the interests of the Bommersheim district. The magistrate and the parliamentary groups in the city parliament each send representatives. The Bommersheim associations, farmers and parishes are also represented on this advisory board.

Religions

  • 1740: Formation of a separate Catholic parish, which is also looked after by the pastor from Oberursel.
  • 1888: Dissolution of the own parish.
  • 1959: Foundation of the Bommersheim evangelical congregation.
  • 1964/65: Construction of the Protestant Kreuzkirche. However, Oberursel remains mostly Catholic

Infrastructure

The Burgwiesenhalle is the town hall of the district and is located behind the Burgwiesenschule , the primary school of the town. Both buildings are modern new buildings made of dark clinker brick. The adjoining old school building is on "Langen Strasse", the historic main street. The old school building is framed by the rectory and the Catholic St. Aureus and Justina Church. Behind the church there is a large church garden that was used as a cemetery until 1934. In front of the church is the old Bommersheimer Dorfbrunnen, which was renovated in 1992.

On the border to Oberursel there is part of the old cemetery Oberursel in the district of Bommersheim.

societies

The St. Georg Oberursel-Bommersheim riding and driving club, founded in 1959, is said to have the largest number of members in the Hessian riding and driving club and has earned Bommersheim the nickname "Hesse's largest horse village".
