history

Entrance building, 1908

Rehfelde station was opened on November 1, 1874. In 1908 a new reception building was opened. Pioneers built an ammunition loading ramp in 1944. In 1947 the second track on the Eastern Railway was dismantled. Rehfelde station has been used for crossing trains since then. During the GDR era , the station played a much larger role, as goods for the Waldsieversdorf intelligence regiment were loaded onto the loading ramp . In the 1970s, the NVA expanded the loading ramps in order to achieve greater loading capacities. With the dismantling of the second track, the connecting track to the industrial company (formerly Goede) was also removed. Since then, cargo handling has concentrated on the loading ramp and the goods floor. Until 1989, the freight yard was also used for handling the waste liquor from the potash industry, which was used to keep the NVA's log routes clear in winter.

Since the former station building had been vacant for a long time, efforts were made to sell the building since November 2006. At the end of 2007, specific plans were drawn up for the renovation and redesign of the area around the station. At the beginning of 2008, the Niederbarnimer Railway recorded around 600 commuters who used the station every day. The groundbreaking ceremony for this project was on October 6th, 2008. On July 31st, 2009 the newly designed and converted station forecourt was officially opened. Since December 12, 2010 the train station in Rehfelde has been connected to the electronic signal box in Küstrin-Kietz . At about the same time, the second track at the level crossing was removed. On August 23, 2011, the renovation of the station building began, with some parts being torn down. The newly designed building was completed in summer 2012.

Platforms and tracks

Around 1962 the station had four tracks; two of them were platform tracks and the other two were used for goods handling . The two platform tracks were 650 m and 530 m long. The platform at the station building was 275 m. This is still in operation today, but only 138 m long and 32 cm high; the former was 195 m long. In 2019 the platform was completely rebuilt; its height is now 55 cm.

The two tracks, which were intended for goods handling, were 340 m and 325 m long and had a few small branches. There was a 400 m long loading street between the two streets that lead over the level crossings at the ends of the station.
