Railway stations in Saarland |
The Rohrbach (Saar) train station is located on the southern edge of the town of Rohrbach , a district of St. Ingbert in Saarland .
Emergence
The Würzbachbahn , which began in Schwarzenacker , was opened to Hassel in 1866 and a year later it was connected directly to St. Ingbert . The so-called Hasseler Tunnel was created between Hassel and St. Ingbert . However, the latter had proven to be unsuitable from a strategic point of view, which is why the said route between Würzbach and St. Ingbert was re-routed. In doing so, Rohrbach received a train station.
The latter was opened with the inauguration of the bypass railway on September 1, 1895 and enlarged on October 1, 1903 with the opening of the Strategic Railway ( Glantalbahn / Münster am Stein - Rohrbach (Saar)). The last extensive renovations to the station building took place in 1958. With the scheduled start of the ICE3 train service Mannheim - Paris in 2008, the western exit curve was "defused" and the platforms were moved higher and about 50 meters further east. The station building was closed after there had been no ticket sales for a long time.
Until the closure of numerous industrial companies along the railway line in the Rohrbachs area, there was a freight station and a number of industrial connections , all of which have now been closed, most recently in 2008. In addition to the three passenger platforms, there are also two construction site tracks.
Apart from ticket machines, there are no other services in the area of the train station . The railway line, which runs roughly in an east-west direction, can be underpassed by a pedestrian tunnel , the underpass of the central platform is through a separate tunnel, which only leads in local direction (to the north), so that for rail travelers on the central platform going south, the tracks have to be crossed twice and the stairs have to be climbed twice.
