Henri-Louis Henry (born July 21, 1838 in Cortaillod , † February 17, 1905 in Peseux ; reformed , resident in Cortaillod) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Henri-Louis Henry was born on July 21, 1838 in Cortaillod, the son of the winegrower and farmer Louis Henry and Mentha, née Louise. Henri-Louis Henry was initially employed as a primary school teacher in Val de Travers and La Béroche from 1856 before he was employed for three years in Spain after 1859 as secretary to the engineer Jämes Ladame, who was responsible for the construction of railway lines. As a result, Henri-Louis Henry worked as a merchant in La Chaux-de-Fonds from 1868 to 1880 .

He also held board memberships at the Neuchâtel Jura Railway and from 1888 to 1890 at the Neuchâtel Cantonal Bank . He was also an active member of the regional church.

Henri-Louis Henry was married to Louise-Françoise, the daughter of the baker François Quidort. He died on February 17, 1905 at the age of 66 in Peseux.

Political career

Henri-Louis Henry, a member of the Free Democratic Party, devoted himself to politics from 1880. At the cantonal level he was a member of the General Council from 1884 to 1887 and 1897 to 1905, and of the Peseux Municipal Council from 1887 to 1897 . At the cantonal level, he represented his party in the Neuchâtel Grand Council between 1883 and 1889 . At the federal level, he was a member of the National Council from 1885 to 1887 as an expert on financial issues .
