Former train station in Salzmünde

The Salzmünde train station is a listed former train station in the Salzmünde district of the Salzatal municipality in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 97920 .

The station in Salzmünde, in the street Alter Bahnhof , was built in 1888 by the Prussian State Railway as the terminus of the Teutschenthal – Salzmünde line . Passenger traffic on the route never comprised more than four pairs of trains. In 1962 the line between Bennstedt and Salzmünde was closed. However, a small locomotive remains stationed in the station to move the freight wagons that were transported from Lieskau station by road scooter. This freight traffic was carried out until the 1970s.

The railway line Halle Klaustor – Hettstedt passed south of Salzmünde, the line crossed it and there was no connection.

The station building is well preserved today (as of 2019) and is still recognizable as such. It is assumed that the building is not the original one, but, just like Salzmünde Süd, was a later new building. From the Salzmünde train station there were still tracks leading to the Salzmünde storage facility and the Salzmünde brickworks .

The former train station in Salzmünde is now privately owned.
