location

Schönberg (Vogtl) train station is in the Schönberg district of the Rosenbach / Vogtl community. It is located in the northwest of the Vogtlandkreis near Mühltroff . history

Old name on the reception building (2018)

Surname

The station had different names while it was in operation. These were in detail:

  • until 1911: Schönberg
  • until 1912: Schönberg (Sa)
  • until 1919: Schönberg b Pausa
  • since 1919: Schönberg (Vogtl)

Emergence

Since the opening of the Plauen – Hof section of the Leipzig – Hof railway line on November 20, 1848, Schönberg was only a stopping point . The station has been used as a train station since June 15, 1871. With the opening of the line to Schleiz on June 18, 1887, the waiting hall was demolished and a reception building was erected as a one-and-a-half-story wing structure. A house for officials, a crockery room and storage shed were built. A boiler house with locomotive treatment systems, coal sheds and a switchman's house were necessary. The route to Hirschberg from 1892 onwards made it necessary to expand the boiler house and enlarge the coal shed. A water station and a placement building and two free passages were added to the high-rise buildings. The island platform for the branch lines was accessible through a pedestrian underpass. A head and side loading ramp as well as the goods shed with an expedition extension were available for freight traffic.

The last major renovation work was carried out with the reconstruction of the LH line. All southern tracks were dismantled. With the commissioning of a new signal box, signal boxes 1 and 2 were abandoned in 1996 and demolished in 1998. Passenger traffic on the railway line to Hirschberg has been suspended since May 29, 1994. Passenger traffic on the route to Schleiz ended on December 9, 2006. On June 30, 2007, the Wisentatalbahn association resumed operations with special trains according to a special timetable. Today the Schönberg (Vogtl) station is only served by the Erfurt Railway and the Vogtland Railway in regional traffic.
