In the election, the previous Mayor of Syrau Achim Schulz (FDP) won 42.93% of the votes, the previous Mayor Mehltheuers, Kerstin Steinbach (CDU), got 28.96% and the former Mayor of Leubnitz, Eberhard Prager (independent), won 28, Get 1% of the vote.
