history
The Waldhufendorf Heinsdorf was first mentioned in 1323 as Heinrichesdorf . In 1460 Villa Heynrichsdorf and Obirheinrichsdorff were first mentioned as two places. The forest hoof village Hauptmannsgrün was first mentioned in a document in 1367 in a privileged letter from Emperor Charles IV . While the upper and lower Heinsdorf to the 19th century as part of the rule Mylau for Saxon and later Royal Saxon Office Plauen in Vogtland district belonged, Captain Green was as fronpflichtiger place of the manor Neumark in office Zwickau in the Erzgebirge District . In 1856 all three places were affiliated to the Reichenbach court office and in 1875 to the Plauen administration . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the three villages of the Heinsdorfer Grund became part of the Reichenbach district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Reichenbach from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996.
The community of Heinsdorf was formed on January 1, 1994 from the independent communities of Hauptmannsgrün, Ober- and Unterheinsdorf , which continue to function as parts of the community. On June 1, 1994 the name was changed to Heinsdorfergrund.

Religions
Unterheinsdorf is ecclesiastically part of the Evangelical Lutheran parish Reichenbach in the Ephorie (church district) Plauen . In 1964 the “Kreuzkapelle” was set up in the disused Rockstroh wage weaving mill for church services in the village. Oberheinsdorf and Hauptmannsgrün belong to the Evangelical Lutheran parish Waldkirchen / Irfersgrün in the Ephorie Auerbach .
The United Methodist Church has been active in Unterheinsdorf since 1946. Since 1967 the "Christ Chapel" behind the fire brigade in Unterheinsdorf has been used for church services.

From 1902 to 1962 a narrow-gauge railway ran to Oberheinsdorf. The line, known as the Rollbockbahn , began in Reichenbach and was built primarily as a connecting line for the industry based in Heinsdorfer Grund, but also served public transport.
Established businesses
In 1991/92 on Unterheinsdorfer Flur the development of the “Kaltes Feld” industrial area on federal highway 94 near the A72 exit “Reichenbach” took place. By 1993, 10 tradespeople with 188 employees had settled there. In 1996 the city of Reichenbach in Vogtland and the municipality of Heinsdorfergrund founded a planning association “Industrial and commercial area motorway junction Reichenbach / Vogtl.”, PIA for short. After a step-by-step expansion, it was also necessary to use the Lengenfeld corridor. The city of Lengenfeld (Vogtland) has been a member of the Zweckverband since 2009. The forge and stamping shop of RENAK-Werke Reichenbach located in Unterheinsdorf was taken over in 1992 by the company "Wackershauser Umformtechnik GmbH" and production continued. Also in 1992 the company "UFT Produktion GmbH" started production in the east of the town. There are numerous craft businesses in the village.
