Railway stations in Baden-Württemberg |
The Tübingen West train station is in the west of the city of Tübingen on the Ammertal Railway .
history
The Tübingen West station was opened as the last intermediate station on the Ammertalbahn in 1910. The system consisted of a stately reception building, a free-standing goods shed, crossing track with side platforms, head and side ramps, a weighbridge (32 tons), a small loading crane , a mechanical dispatcher interlocking and several private sidings .
After the railway facilities were taken over by the local public transport association in Ammertal , the station was completely rebuilt. The mechanical signal box has been out of service since 1999. The freight transport facilities were abandoned and a central platform was built between the main tracks. The remote-controlled turnouts were replaced by fallback turnouts. Train journeys are secured by train-controlled light entry and exit signals. The reception building and goods shed still exist, but are used privately.
