The Templin station is a regional station of the city of Templin in Brandenburg . The train station is located southwest of the city center.

history

When the Löwenberg (Mark) –Templin railway was opened in 1888 , the town of Templin on its western edge was given the provisional terminus of the line. Templin remained the terminus for only a few years, as the Britz – Templin line was built in 1898 , and the extension of the line from Löwenberg (Mark) to Prenzlau and the extension of the line from Britz to Fürstenberg / Havel were added a year later . This made Templin a railway junction. In the summer of 1913 the Templin – Fürstenwerder line opened, branching off from the Prenzlau line in Fährkrug. However, this was dismantled again in 1945. The route to Prenzlau was also interrupted between 1945 and 1953 due to reparations payments. As the number of travelers continued to decline over the years, some routes were closed. On June 1, 1996, passenger traffic to Fürstenberg was stopped, and on May 28, 2000 in the Templin Stadt – Prenzlau section. In 2006, due to cost-cutting measures by the state of Brandenburg, traffic in the Templin– Joachimsthal section was canceled. So there was only one route to Templin that was served by local rail transport. The route has been in operation again for an initial three years since December 2018.

The Löwenberg - Templin section is to be integrated into the Neuruppin electronic interlocking by June 2020 , which will replace the local interlocking at Templin station.

Investments

Until the end of the 1990s, Templin station had extensive track systems that fell victim to large-scale rationalization measures. There were five platform tracks , a freight yard , a freight shed , several sidings and a railway depot with a turntable , engine shed and water tower . All facilities are still there, but trackless.

To the west of the reception building is a goods shed with loading tracks.

The ensemble of the station, consisting of the reception and dispatch building, the platform canopies, a service building on platform 1, the goods shed with loading siding and buffer stops and a lighting mast, the B1 signal box, four wing signals, water tower, water station and slewing crane , roundhouse with turntable, workshop building as well as three residential buildings is under monument protection.

In the spring of 2012, the house platform on track 1 was modernized and raised to a length of 100 meters to a height of 55 cm to enable level entry into the trains. In the course of this, the platform was equipped with a guidance system for the blind, new furniture and a dynamic text display (DSA) to inform passengers in the event of a malfunction.
