The Tenryū-Futamata Station ( Jap. 天竜二俣駅 , Tenryū-Futamata-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Honshu , operated by the railway company Tenryū Hamanako tetsudō . It is located in the Shizuoka prefecture in the area of the city of Hamamatsu , more precisely in the rural district of Tenryū-ku .

description

Tenryū-Futamata is a through station on the Tenryū-Hamanako Line, which connects Kakegawa with Shinjohara . Regional trains usually run at an approximate hourly rate, which is condensed into half-hourly intervals during rush hour. In the morning and in the evening, the trains run the entire route, while during the day in Tenryū-Futamata there is an operational division and you have to change trains here. The bus stop on the station forecourt is served by two Entetsu Bus lines.

The station is in the district of Futamatachō-Akura, about 200 meters north of the Tenryū River . The facility is oriented from east to west and has seven tracks, three of which are used for passenger traffic. These are located on the house platform and on a central platform that is connected to the reception building on the north side via a level crossing . Various parts of the station such as the former station shop, the platform roofs, the pump system and the water tower have been listed as registered material cultural assets since 2011 .

Tenryū-Futamata is the headquarters of the Tenryū Hamanako Tetsudō railway company and its operating center. To the east of the passenger station is the depot with parking facility. Although the route is only used by diesel railcars , the roundhouse and turntable from the days of steam operation have been preserved. Together with the associated group of buildings, they have also been under monument protection since 1998. A JNR class C58 steam locomotive is permanently on display on the site .

history

The Ministry of Railways opened the station on June 1, 1940, along with the line between Enshū-Mori and Kanasashi , the last missing section of the then Futamata line ( 二 俣 線 , Futamata-sen ). In the years 1958 to 1966 Tenryū-Futamata was also the terminus of isolated trains of the Enshū Tetsudō from and to Shin-Hamamatsu . In 1967 the Japanese State Railways began building the Sakuma Line , which branched off here in a northerly direction and was supposed to make a connection to the Chūbu-Tenryū station on the Iida Line ; thirteen years later the half-finished project was abandoned. For cost reasons, the state railway stopped handling goods on November 1, 1982. As part of the privatization of the state railways, the station passed on March 15, 1987 into the possession of the newly founded railway company Tenryū Hamanako Tetsudō.
