The railway Rožmitál pod Třemšínem-Březnice is a regional railway line in the Czech Republic , originally from the local railway Strakonitz-Blatná-Breznitz as local railway was built Breznitz-Rozmitál. It begins in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem and ends at the junction ("odbočka") Přední Poříčí in the Protivín – Zdice railway line .

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The concession for the local railway Březnitz – Rožmital was awarded to the founders of the local railway Strakonitz – Blatná – Březnitz together with the Blatná – Nepomuk line on February 21, 1897. The line was opened on June 11, 1899. The operation was run by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) for the owner's account.

In 1912 the timetable of the local railway indicated three mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains. They needed 27 minutes for the 10-kilometer route between Rožmitál and Březnitz.

After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). With the nationalization of the local railway company from January 1, 1925, the infrastructure also belonged to the ČSD network.

With the use of modern motor trains in the 1930s, travel times were shortened to just 15-18 minutes. The winter timetable of 1937/38 listed six 3rd class passenger train pairs, all of which ran as motorized trains.

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2012 timetable, the route is served by seven pairs of passenger trains on weekdays, and five on weekends.
