In Lower Franconia, the Bad Neustadt – Bad Königshofen railway was a 23-kilometer long branch line from Bad Neustadt an der Saale to Bad Königshofen im Grabfeld . The railway line along the Franconian Saale was also called Grabfeldbahn according to the area . In 1997 the line was dismantled.

history

On April 30, 1888, the Bavarian State Parliament passed the law to build and operate a local railway that connects Königshofen with Neustadt, where it connects to the main railway towards Schweinfurt, which was opened in 1874 . Construction finally began in March 1892 and one year later on October 1, 1893, the Bavarian State Railroad officially opened the local railway .

On May 30, 1976 the passenger train service was stopped, on December 30, 1994 the freight train service. The Federal Railway Authority approved the closure of the line on May 11, 1995, which was then completed on August 1, 1995. The dismantling of the track system was completed in June 1997. The Saale Valley cycle path was later built on the route.
