The Bredstedt - Löwenstedt railway was a 13.9 kilometer route in the Prussian province of Schleswig-Holstein . It existed for only 14 years and connected the small town of Bredstedt on the Marschbahn with the town of Löwenstedt on the Flensburg - Husum route .

history

The Bredstedt – Löwenstedt line was commissioned in 1928 and closed again on November 1, 1942. In 1942 - during the Second World War - the tracks were dismantled and continued to be used at Poltava (Ukraine) due to the war; The Bredstedt station was given the Bredstedt water tower to supply water to the steam locomotives on this route .

The main purpose of the route was to transport agricultural goods; but there was also occasional passenger traffic. Three pairs of passenger trains ran daily. The passenger trains took around 25 minutes for the route as planned.

In Bredstedt, the Breklum district of Riddorf and Drelsdorf, the names of various traffic routes are reminiscent of the former course of this railway line. In the area of Drelsdorf-Norderfeld, a short section of the former railway embankment is a building that shapes the landscape. The former station building of the Drelsdorf train station is still structurally preserved, but is now used for residential purposes.
