The Hoting – Forsmo railway is a connection between Inlandsbanan and Stambanan genom övre Norrland in northern Sweden .

history

In 1917, the Swedish Reichstag provided one million Swedish kronor to the railway company Statens Järnvägar (SJ), but the costs rose tenfold by the time it was completed. In 1921 freight traffic between Forsmo and Ådalsliden was started. The entire route to Hoting was officially opened on December 3, 1925.

There has been no passenger traffic since 1985. Only the Ådalslidens Järnvägsvänner association runs special rail bus trips on the route a few times a year.

The line is designed for an axle load of 22.5 t with a meter load of 6.4 t / m. The maximum speed is 70 km / h. Freight traffic is mainly handled by Hector Rail and Inlandståget, a subsidiary of Inlandsbanan AB . After an Inlandståget train derailed at Tågsjöberg station on May 16, 2014, the railway line was completely closed by the Trafikverket until October 31, 2014.
