Mellansel is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västernorrlands län or the historical province of Ångermanland . The place is located 30 km northwest of Örnsköldsvik on Anundsjösjön .

It is located on the Bräcke-Boden railway line and became a railway junction after the opening of the railway line to Örnsköldsvik on November 1, 1892. Today passenger trains run to Stockholm , Gothenburg , Örnsköldsvik, Umeå , Luleå and Kiruna .

Mellansel also has an airfield. The largest company in Mellansel is the hydraulic motor manufacturer Hägglunds Drives (now part of Bosch Rexroth ) with 900 employees. There is an adult education center and an outdoor swimming pool in the village.
