The local railway Mscheno – Unter Cetno (Czech: Místní dráha Mšeno – Dolní Cetno ) was a private local railway in today's Czech Republic . The route ran from Mšeno ( Wemschen ) via Skalsko to Dolní Cetno in Central Bohemia . Today only the Mšeno – Skalsko section is still in operation as part of the Mladá Boleslav – Mělník connection .

history

The concession for the local railway Mšeno – Unter Cetno was issued on April 16, 1896. The company's share capital totaled 502,400 kroner in 242 common shares of 200 kroner each and 270 priority shares of 200 kroner each.

The 15 km long route was opened on December 4, 1897.

The operation was run by the Bohemian Northern Railway (BNB) on behalf of the local railway Mscheno – Unter Cetno . After its nationalization in 1907, the management was transferred to the kk Austrian State Railways (kkStB). After the First World War , management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

On January 1, 1925, the local railway Mscheno – Unter Cetno was nationalized by law and the line was integrated into the ČSD network.

The ČSD operated the connection until 1970. On May 31, 1970 the passenger train service between Skalsko and Dolní Cetno and on to Chotětov was set. On February 1, 1974, this section was finally closed. Between Mšeno and Skalsko, the line is still in operation as part of the connection between Mladá Boleslav and Mělník .

From November 1, 2018, the section between Mšeno and Skalsko, which is still in operation, will be comprehensively repaired. After the construction work has been completed, tourist traffic is scheduled to run every two hours. In both Mlada Boleslav and Mělník the connections will then be accessible from and in all directions.

Locomotives

In 1903 the BNB acquired a locomotive of the later kkStB series 362 (ČSD 320.1) on account of the local railway Mscheno – Unter Cetno .
