The railway line Dobruška – Opočno pod Orlickými horami is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated as a nationally guaranteed local line Opočno – Dobruschka (Czech: Místní dráha Opočno – Dobruška ). It has its starting point in Dobruška in East Bohemia and joins the Choceň – Meziměstí railway in Opočno .

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The municipality of Dobruška received the concession "to build and operate a standard-gauge local railway from the Opočno station of the priv. Austro-Hungarian State Railway Company to Dobruška" on December 5, 1907. Part of the concession was the obligation to build to start the route immediately and finish it within two years. The duration of the concession was set at 90 years.

The route was opened on November 1, 1908. The kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) ran the business on behalf of the owners. In 1912, the local railway's timetable showed six 2nd and 3rd class motor car trains in both directions . The cars needed 22 minutes for the five-kilometer route uphill and 20 minutes downhill.

After the First World War, the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) took over the management of the kkStB. On January 1, 1925, the local railway Opočno – Dobruschka was nationalized by law and the line was integrated into the ČSD network.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

The last annual timetable for 2010 recorded a total of seven pairs of passenger trains on working days, each connecting to the trains on the Týniště nad Orlicí – Meziměstí line. On Saturday, March 13, 2010 the passenger train service was discontinued in favor of an intercity bus connection. Since then, there has only been a single pair of passenger trains in the morning serving school traffic.

Vehicle use

Motor vehicle ČSD M 124.001, the sister vehicle M 124.002 was used here until 1941

On the local line Opočno – Dobruschka , the kkStB used the kkStB 1.002 steam multiple unit , which was originally built for the local line Böhmisch Leipa – Steinschönau . The vehicle came to ČSD as M 124.002 and was retired in 1941.

Most recently, only the two-axle railcars of the ČD series 810 were used on the route. A ČD class 841 railcar has been in service since December 2014 .
