The Stadthagen – Stolzenau railway line was a branch line in Lower Saxony . It was a branch line to the Nienburg – Mindener Bahn and connection to the Hanover – Minden line .

history

The railway line was opened on August 2, 1921 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn . Planned for continuous traffic to Bremen, the route was in some cases complex. Dams, viaducts and cuttings are mostly still clearly visible today.

In the northern Leese - Stolzenau - Loccum section , it competed with the Steinhuder Meer-Bahn and led to traffic losses, which in 1935 led to the closure of the Meer-Bahn in this section. In 1940, a 5 km long siding was laid to the Loccum air tank farm in Münchehagen .

Passenger traffic was always meager; in 1944 there were only three pairs of trains running on weekdays. In the 1950s there were continuous passenger trains to Bremen. The last time there were five pairs of trains were shown in the 1961 summer timetable. Passenger traffic was stopped on June 6, 1961.

Freight traffic ended in several stages: Loccum – Niedernwöhren on July 31, 1969, Leese-Stolzenau – Loccum on May 30, 1976 and Stadthagen – Niedernwöhren on September 27, 1981. The tracks have since been dismantled.
