The Steinach bei Rothenburg – Bad Windsheim railway is a branch line in Bavaria . It branches off in Steinach (b Rothenburg od Tauber) from the Treuchtlingen – Würzburg railway and heads east to Bad Windsheim , where it joins the Neustadt (Aisch) –Bad Windsheim railway .

Bad Windsheim train station

The route is listed in the timetable of Deutsche Bahn , which is currently responsible for traffic, under number 806. The regional train line R81 runs on it in the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association . The transport services on the route were put out to tender in 2005 by the Bavarian Railway Company as part of the “ Nuremberg Diesel Network ” for 10 years. Since December 14, 2008, this route has been operated under the name “Mittelfrankenbahn” with new multiple units of the 648 series every hour, but at the end of 2018, the previously used series 642 was switched back to. The operation is carried out by DB Regio Franken .
