The Torņakalns – Tukums ( unofficial : Riga – Tukums ) railway is a railway line in Latvia . It has the Russian track width of 1520 mm, has a length of around 65 km and is electrified throughout. From Torakalns to Sloka, the line is double-tracked. The route is owned and operated by Latvijas dzelzceļš .

history

The line was opened in 1877. In 1895 it was nationalized and in 1950 it was the first line to be electrified in Latvia.

Operation today

Eleven pairs of trains run the entire route every day. (Status: December 2013) From Riga to Sloka there are 31 pairs of trains per day.
