The Tröglitz – Zeitz railway is a disused branch line in Saxony-Anhalt that connects the Zeitz freight yard with the Zeitz – Altenburg railway.

history

The line was opened on December 1, 1913 by the Royal Saxon State Railways as a connection to the Zeitz freight station, which was then under Prussian administration. From then on, the freight trains from and towards Altenburg were led over this route.

In 2009 the Federal Railway Authority of DB Netz AG approved the closure of the line on September 30, 2009.

Route

The route begins in Tröglitz at kilometer 3.56 of the Zeitz – Altenburg route, initially runs to the northwest and crosses the White Elster . The introduction to the Leipzig – Probstzella railway line is via a flyover structure . At the Zn signal box at the Zangenberg junction, the tracks come together and, together with those who have been added from Weißenfels, lead via the freight station to the Zeitz passenger station. Until the management boundaries were changed on January 1, 1955, the boundary between the Reichsbahn directorates in Halle and Erfurt was at the level of the Elster Bridge (km 2.95) .
