The Wyczerpy – Chorzew Siemkowice railway is a largely single-track, electrified railway line in the Polish Voivodeships of Silesia and Łódź that is no longer regularly used by passenger traffic .
Course and condition
The line begins at the Wyczerpy junction on the Warszawa – Katowice railway line and runs northwards, then northwestwards to Chorzew Siemkowice station (Saatgrund; km 48.392) on the Chorzów – Tczew railway line , the former coal mainline .
The line is double-tracked up to kilometer 3,940 at Rząsawa station and electrified continuously with three kilovolts DC. It can be driven at a maximum speed of forty kilometers per hour up to kilometer 4.035, sixty up to kilometer 43.845 and fifty on the rest of the route. This applies to all types of trains.
history
The line was opened on April 13, 1939 by the French-Polish Railway Company . In the same year after the German occupation of Poland it came partly to the Deutsche Reichsbahn and partly to the Eastern Railway . In 1945 she became Polish again and joined the Polish State Railways . It has been fully electrified since December 30, 1974.
Regular passenger traffic ceased on December 9, 2012.
