Bajraky ( Ukrainian Байраки ; Russian Байраки Bairaki , Romanian Mogoșești ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast Chernivtsi with about 1850 inhabitants (2001).

In the village, which has been known since the 17th century (another source mentions 1633 as the year of foundation), is the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin , built in 1646 , one of the largest village churches in southeastern Bukovina and an architectural monument of national importance.

Bajraky is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the south of Herza district , to which the northern village of Pidwalne ( Підвальне , ) with about 700 inhabitants also belongs.

Geographical location

The village is located in the historical Herza area at an altitude of 254  m , 3 km north of the village of Petraschiwka , 13 km southwest of the Herza Rajon center and 28 km southeast of the Chernivtsi Oblast center .
