Balendin Enbeita (born May 20, 1906 in Muxika ; † November 20, 1986 ) was a Basque Bertsolari and writer .

Balendín Enbeita 1906 in bizkainischen Muxika born into a well-known Bertsolari family. His father was Kepa Enbeita Urretxindorra , his grandfather Juan Antonio Enbeita alias Txotxojeuri.

Enbeita had his first appearances at the age of eighteen in Eibar . He won two Bertsolari competitions at the age of twenty-three in Mungia and a year later in Getxo .

In the Spanish Civil War , in which he fought for the Basque government, he was wounded and later sentenced to twelve years' imprisonment, from which he served four years.

He resumed his public appearances in 1954. In 1958 and 1959 he won the first Bizkain competitions.

In 1958 he founded the first Bertsolari school in Ariatza , which produced many successful Bertsolaris, including Enbeita's own sons but also Jon Lopategi, Jon Mugartegi, Deunoro Sardui and Ireneo Ajuria. He is considered the most important sponsor of the Bertsolari in Bizkaia.

In 1980 Enbeita died in an accident at work in his Baserri .
