The Balgarup River is a river in the southwest of the Australian state of Western Australia .
geography
Its headwaters are located in the southeast of the city of Kojonup . It flows in a westerly direction to its confluence with the Arthur River to the Blackwood River .

history
The name of the river comes from a word in the local Aboriginal language. The first land survey of the area was made in 1840 by Alfred Hillman.
