The Baltrum III is a passenger ship operated by the Baltrum-Linie shipping company . It is used for excursions from Neßmersiel and Baltrum as well as for regular services between the North Sea island of Baltrum and the port in Neßmersiel .

The ship

The Baltrum III was built at the Julius Diedrich shipyard and only transports people and their luggage, which is loaded in small containers with a crane onto the stern. The only cargo that is regularly transported is mail.

In spring 2012 the ship was rebuilt in Oldersum. The original drive motors from KHD with an output of 470 kW were exchanged for two new engines from Scania of the type DI-12 with a total of 662 kW. In addition, the wheelhouse was given a new control stand and the windows in the lower saloon were given thicker glass.
