Bandy Island is a small and icy island off the Ruppert coast of the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . It is located 2.5 km west of Lynch Point in Hull Bay .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1962 to 1967. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the US geologist Orville L. Bandy (1917–1973) from the university of California, Los Angeles , who participated in 1964 and 1966 as senior scientist for the United States Antarctic Research Program in research trips of the RV Anton Bruun and the USNS Eltanin to the Antarctic.
