The Bank for Trento and Bozen (BTB; Italian Banca di Trento e Bolzano ) is a regional bank that belongs to the Intesa Sanpaolo banking group . It has its headquarters in Trento with a subsidiary in Bolzano .
history
The bank has its origins in Trentino in the two agricultural banks Banca Cattolica and Banca Cooperativa , which merged in 1927 under pressure to form Banca del Trentino e dell'Alto Adige , which existed until 1933. The Banca di Trento , newly founded in Trento at the end of 1934 , built on the legacy of its predecessors and expanded in 1936/37 from the city of Trento with eight branches into the province of Trento.
After the war, the name of the bank was changed to the current form in January 1947 and expansion into South Tyrol began with the opening of branches in Bolzano and Merano . Numerous other branches followed in both provinces.
In December 1995 it was taken over by Banco Ambroveneto , which brought it into the Gruppo Intesa , which was founded in 1998 . From this, the Banca Intesa emerged in 2003 , which in turn merged into Intesa Sanpaolo in 2007 . In the meantime, all BTB branches operate under Intesa Sanpaolo.
Business area
In addition to the traditional home market of Trentino-South Tyrol , the bank also had a number of branches in the neighboring regions of Lombardy and Veneto . In addition, it had had a representative office in Innsbruck since 2003 , which was converted into a branch under Austrian law in 2005.
