Banks is a city in Pike County in the US state of Alabama . The total area of the place is 5.2 km².

Banks is located in southeast Alabama in the southern United States.
Nearby locations include Troy (5 km west), Brundidge (6 km south), Clio (20 km southeast), and Louisville (23 km east). The next larger city with 205,000 inhabitants is the capital of Alabama, Montgomery, about 60 kilometers to the northwest .

Banks is crossed from west to east on the same route by US Highway 29 and Alabama State Route 15 . It is also the northern end of Alabama State Route 93 , which connects to US Highway 231 in the south .

As of the 2000 census , Banks had a population of 224 people, spread across 92 households and 62 families. The population density was 43 inhabitants / km². 84.82% of the population were white and 10.27% were African American. Children under the age of 18 lived in 29.3% of households. The median income was $ 21,719 and 10% of the population lived below the poverty line .
By the 2010 census , the population had dropped to 179.
