Jillian Banks' signature

Banks (* 16th June 1988 in Orange County , California as Jillian Rose Banks ) is an American singer and songwriter from Los Angeles .

Career

Jillian Banks grew up in Los Angeles in the Tarzana district . As a teenager, she taught herself to play the piano on a gift toy instrument. She wrote her own songs to deal with her personal experiences, first of all her parents' divorce.

At the beginning of 2013 she published the song Before I Ever Met You on the Internet and within a short time she got record deals in England and the USA with Good Years and Harvest Records . In September 2013 the EP London was released , which made it to number 6 on the US Heatseeker charts. She also went on tour with The Weeknd as a support. Her use of her song Waiting Game in a commercial for the fashion brand Victoria's Secret brought her further fame . In early 2014, she was voted number 3 in its sound-of- predictions for the most promising musicians for the year ahead by the BBC . The song Waiting Game then made it into the expanded Top 100 of the British charts.

While she was working on her debut album, Banks completed a tour of England in spring 2014 and performed at well-known festivals such as Coachella and Bonnaroo . Before the album was released, the single Beggin for Thread was released , which was a respectable success in Germany. The album entitled Goddess was released in early September and reached the top 20 in Germany, Great Britain and Australia, among others. At the end of September 2016, their second album, The Altar, was released .

Their music is described as a mix of indie electropop and R&B .
