Barbara Bates (born August 6, 1925 in Denver , Colorado , † March 18, 1969 there ) was an American actress .

Career

In 1947 the former model of was Warner Bros. contracted. A little later, Barbara Bates was already at the side of Bette Davis , to be seen in The Bride of the Month and received a leading role next to Danny Kaye . Still, feeling uncomfortable with Warner, the actress made her first suicide attempt, which the studio covered up. She then moved to 20th Century Fox .

In the years that followed, Barbara Bates' mental state worsened. Several films had to be canceled during filming. In 1958 the actress shot her last film.

life and death

Barbara Bates was married to Cecil Coan from 1945 to 1967. After her husband died from cancer, she made a living as a dental assistant. She later returned to her hometown of Denver, worked in a hospital, and in 1968 married her childhood friend, William Reed.

In 1969 she poisoned herself with gas.
