Barbara Bergelt

Barbara Bergelt (born April 24, 1941 in Berlin ) is a former Hessian politician ( SPD ) and member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Barbara Bergelt, who is of Protestant denomination, attended the Eleonor School in Darmstadt from 1951 to 1960 , where she graduated from high school . From 1960 to 1966 she studied French and history to become a teacher and in 1966 passed the first state examination for teaching at high schools at the University of Marburg . From 1966 to 1967 she was a research assistant at the Seminar for Modern History. After her legal clerkship from 1967 to 1969, she passed the second state examination for teaching at grammar schools in Gießen and worked from 1969 to 1995 as a teacher for French, history and mathematics at the Johanneum grammar school in Herborn .

politics

Barbara Bergelt joined the SPD and held various board positions in the party. Since 1974 she has been a board member in the SPD local association Herborn-Merkenbach, since 1993 board member in the SPD sub-district Lahn-Dill and since 1980 deputy sub-district chairwoman of the AsF Lahn-Dill.

In terms of local politics, she was a member of the SPD parliamentary group in the district assembly of the Lahn-Dill district from 1979 to 1989 and deputy chairwoman of the parliamentary group there from 1981 to 1985. From 1985 to 1989 she was chairman of the committee for agriculture and the environment and from 1989 to 1993 member of the district committee of the Lahn-Dill district. She has been a member of the AWO since 1996.

From 1995 to 2003 she was a member of the Hessian state parliament for two electoral terms. In 1995 she was directly elected in the constituency of Lahn-Dill I , and in 1999 via the state list. She was drug policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament. Before that, she had volunteered in local politics for 30 years. In 1999 she was a member of the Federal Assembly .

Honors

Barbara Bergelt received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2006 .
