Barbara Duden (born June 15, 1951 in Hamburg ) is a German politician of the SPD , member of the Hamburg parliament and vice-president there from 2004 to 2020.

Life

Barbara Duden trained as a bookseller after school . She later studied librarianship and worked in the Hamburg-Horn library . In addition to her parliamentary work, she is a member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO), “Selbsthilfe eV Jenfeld” and a member of the ver.di union .

Barbara Duden joined the SPD in 1976. From 1978 to 1991 she was a member of the Wandsbek district assembly and from 1985 to 1991 chairwoman of the SPD district parliamentary group. From October 2001 to March 2004 she officiated as deputy state chairwoman of the SPD Hamburg and district chairwoman of the SPD Wandsbek. She is the chairwoman of the SPD district Hamburg-Jenfeld .

She was a member of the Hamburg Parliament from June 19, 1991 to 2020. From March 2004 to March 2011, she was First Vice-President of the Hamburg Parliament. In March 2011 she was re-elected as Vice President of the Presidium of the Citizenship.

In the 2008 general election she was able to move into parliament again via her party's state list and represented the SPD in the constitutional committee, the school committee and the European committee during this electoral period. In the 2011 election she was also able to move into the citizenship again via the SPD state list position 2 . In the 2015 election , she received the most votes in the Wandsbek constituency and thus a direct mandate for the citizenship.
