Barbara Eberhard-Halter

Barbara Eberhard-Halter (born May 7, 1945 ) is a Swiss politician (first LdU , later CVP ).

Life

Barbara Halter grew up in St. Gallen and studied medicine at the University of Bern . Then she trained as a psychiatrist . After a few years as a family woman, she came into politics through her commitment to organic farming . From 1992 to 2012 she was a member of the St. Gallen canton parliament . In the state ring of the independents (LdU) she was parliamentary group president and participated in the total revision of the cantonal constitution.

After the resignation of the longstanding LdU National Council Franz Jaeger, she moved to the National Council on September 18, 1995 . In the National Council elections that followed shortly afterwards in 1995 , the Landesring lost its St. Gallen seat, and Barbara Eberhard-Halter was not re-elected. Their term of office ended again on December 3, 1995.

After the dissolution of the LdU, she moved to the CVP in 1999. From 2005 to 2012 she was a CVP representative of the five-person St. Gallen city government . There she was responsible for schools and sports and was the supervisor of around 1,400 employees.

Barbara Eberhard-Halter has three children and was married to the late Franz Eberhard, long-time city architect of St. Gallen.
