Barbara G. Fast

Barbara G. Fast (* 1953 in Montgomery , Alabama ) is a major general in the US Army .

Military career

In 1971, Fast began studying at Central Missouri State University near Kansas City . Two years later, in 1973, she moved to the University of Missouri , where she completed her studies as a Bachelor of Science in German and Spanish. In 1980 she graduated from Boston University with a Master of Science degree in economics. She was later awarded an honorary doctorate in law from Central Missouri State University .

Since February 8, 1976, Fast has served in various US Army Intelligence commandos . She was stationed in such units near Munich and Augsburg . Other uses took place in the US Army Military Personnel Center in Alexandria , Virginia , in Fort Hood , Texas , in Fort George G. Meade , Maryland and in Iraq under the command of Lieutenant General Ricardo S. Sánchez in Abu Ghuraib Prison , where they established the Joint Interrogation and Debriefing Center .

She had set up Intelligence Task Force XXI with Lieutenant General Claudia J. Kennedy .

After serving as an assistant officer in the US Army Intelligence Center (USAIC) prior to her command in Iraq at Fort Huachuca , Arizona , she was appointed major general commander of USAIC on April 22, 2004 .
