Barbara Loth
Barbara Eva Loth (born January 14, 1957 in Duisburg ), née Lofing , is a German politician ( SPD ). She is currently working as a lawyer specializing in labor law in Berlin. From December 2011 to December 2016 she was State Secretary in the Senate Department for Labor, Integration and Women of the State of Berlin . Before that, from 2006 she was District Councilor for Economics, Transport and Health in Berlin Steglitz-Zehlendorf , where she also held the position of Deputy District Mayor from October 2011. In the Berlin election on September 18, 2016 , she ran in the constituency of Steglitz-Zehlendorf 7 (Wannsee, Nikolassee, Schlachtensee) as an SPD candidate for the House of Representatives.
Life and work
After graduating from high school, which Loth passed in 1976, she began studying law , which she completed in 1982 with the first state examination in law. After passing the second state examination in 1985, she began working as a lawyer specializing in labor law . After working as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin from 1987 to 1990, and also at the Humboldt University in 1990, she was appointed judge at the labor court in Berlin in 1991.
Loth has two sons. She lives in Berlin-Nikolassee .
politics
In 1994 Loth joined the SPD. Here she was initially a member of the executive board of the Lake District Department and on the board of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women.
From 2002 to 2012 she was a member of the executive district board of the SPD Steglitz-Zehlendorf, where she a. a. was deputy district chairwoman from 2006 to 2012. Since then she has also been a member of the board of the working group of lawyers in the SPD and of the steering committee of the specialist committee for economics, work and technology, which she has chaired since 2006.
She has been a member of the state executive of the Berlin SPD since 2004 and has been deputy state chairman of the SPD Berlin since 2006 .
In addition, she is the chair of the SPD committee for business and labor.
Offices
District Councilor (2006–2011)
On November 15, 2006, she was elected district councilor for economy, health and transport in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district.
State Secretary (2011-2016)
After the election to the Berlin House of Representatives on September 18, 2011 , she was appointed State Secretary by the new Senator for Labor, Women and Integration, Dilek Kolat .
On December 8, 2016, Loth was put into temporary retirement .
Volunteering
From 1998 to 2006 Loth was chairwoman of the general council of judges in Berlin and from 2004 to 2006 chairwoman of the main council of judges in Berlin.
From 2000 to 2002 she was the parent's representative at the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium in Berlin.
